is expected to serve as Air Force One

The security implications of this are mind blowing.

Exactly! It’s going to be a flying wiretap with every enemy of the US scrambling to get their electronics in before Qatar closes the deal with Trump. I wouldn’t be surprised if there were eavesdropping circuits baked into the silicon of every system in the plane.

What a fucking nightmare - but on brand for this kleptocracy of an administration.

To be fair, the Air Force will be stripping it down as they modify it for the needs of the office. But all it takes is one thing missed to be a huge problem. This just isn’t a great idea at all, but they knew he’d jump at it because hey, free plane that he gets to keep.

        • Yeah, I’m pretty sure that the Qatari (Quatarans?Quasars?) know that and will make sure that something without which it can’t function at all or something that the Mango Mussolini will insist on keeping (like a dedicated Truth Social console or a direct line to other dictators, for example) includes surveillance equipment and/or software.

It’s not like they’re going to be able to force him not to use it any more than they could force him not to tweet from an unsecured phone in the oval office and the presidential bedroom…

Just the latest in an ever-growing string of obviously corrupt acts involving this obviously corrupt politician.

In less than a year, the US has gone from a nation that at least punished the most egregious corruption to a nation in which the highest elected office in the land is held by the most brazenly and openly corrupt politician in modern US history, and nobody is doing a thing about it.

The US is circling the drain.

I wouldn’t say no one is doing anything about it. SCOTUS is enabling him. So… there’s that

Mm… yeah. I should’ve stipulated that nobody is doing anything to stop him (or even really to slow him down).

The Supreme Court and virtually the entirety of the Republican party - federal, state and local - are actively aiding and abetting him, which, yeah, does count as doing something.

Perfectly legal under the “whatthefuckareyougonnadoaboutit” clause. Under this clause, anything is legal as long as nobody does anything about it, which is exactly what everyone is going to do.

Pretty much. Just let another country actively spy on the entire presidency, sacrifice national security, and no one will do a damn thing about it.

I mean hey, his friends at the Supreme Court, accepters of transportation-themed bribes, may have to rule on the subject. I’m sure they will do their jobs just as they have been.

Trump is so honest and fair he gave up his measly 200k presidential wage, a little gift every now and then just to get some food on the table isn’t so bad? How is he supposed to feed his family without any income.

    Gee, what a good guy…

I suspect he will make sure it is painted in the stupid livery that he wanted the new VC-25B’s to have but which was reverted back to the classic style livery by Biden

Sure corruption, he’s also incredibly stupid as i’d bet every conversation he’ll ever have on that plane will be translated and broadcast realtime into 3 different languages. Its really funny to me just how stupid of a security concern that it would be. They’ll know where he is, what he thinks, when he goes to the bathroom.

They could even put in a “drop out of the sky” button for themselves if they stop liking him. “Oh but its Boeing” as if a foreign nation cares about that in the least.

It’ll bugged, tracked, sabotaged, and most of all, not safe to set a single foot on. If I was in the press pool, I’d quit following him when he gets it. There’s reasons the air force handles everything start to finish.

But apart from the whole Foreign Emoluments Clause of the US Constitution, he’s going to pay the taxes and duties on it, right? RIGHT?
