Was Jesus “hard?” Not from what I’ve read. He was a kind, gentle, caring soul who avoided confrontation, never harmed anyone, and preach forgiveness, compassion, and love.

The right wing and their obsession over “manliness” is so pathetic.

And chased merchants out of the temple while brandishing a whip and kicking down their tables.

Americans got such a hard on because he “said” something like: trade your tunic for a sword and interpret that as “jesus told me to get some guns”

…No? That’s literally the exact opposite of what the biblical God expects of men.

Jesus says that men should be compassionate, selfless, giving, and loving. That they should help orphans & widows, the sick & injured, people in prison and even… foreigners.

Christianity has been invaded & commodified for even more horrific purposes. And I could not be more disappointed in anyone who believes this slop. Because the ones who believe this are the ones who never read the Bible and takes everything at face value.

And a pastor or someone successful claiming to be a “Christian” would never lie! Right? …RIGHT???

They can no longer discern the wolves from their flock, and God will not have mercy on them.

    Hallelujah, holy shit.

I’m gonna steel-man this. I don’t think that being “hard” means being an asshole. It can mean having strength of character. Courage in the face of fear, that kind of thing. You can be that kind of hard and also be compassionate.

Having said that, it is pretty shitty to assign that to a gender. Anybody of any gender can have a strong character. Also, I haven’t read the article this is referring to, so it could be full of toxic masculinity for all I know.

You can be sensitive while also being bold. You can be kind while also being firm. You can be helpful while also being strong.

None of these things cancel each other out.

Unfortunately, the shittiness of “BEING A HARD MAN” typically embodies a lot of shitty stereotypes about “”“masculinity”“”: must limit your emotions, never apologize even if you’re wrong, don’t do “”“girly/sissy”“” things, etc. It’s garbage.

A man who lets his nieces paint his nails and isn’t ashamed of that isn’t less of a man. A man who cries during romantic movies isn’t less of a man. You know the drill.

I’m a formerly of the faith. I’ve read it all an uncountable amount of times.

The New Testament is kinda of a “new era” for the tone of Christianity. The sacrifice of Jesus was the old ways being re-written and ushering in the new way. His death made it so people no longer had to make blood sacrifices and offerings in order to be forgiven. It really is a beautiful story.

The absolute selfishness and barbarism endorsed by many modern-day “Christians” would make Jesus weep.

Luckily, Jesus also promises that they will get what they are owed in the end.

How did I know this was going to be the reply… You’re not even Christian anymore, and you’re still doing apologetics.

17 “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. 18 For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished.

          Matthew 5:17-18

The whole “new covenant” thing is just a convenient way for Christians to convince others (and often themselves) that their religion isn’t complete hateful trash.

          And LOL at:

They will get what they are owed in the end.

If you think I’m defending Christianity in the slightest, maybe read it over a few more times, yeah?

All I’m doing is using what they claim believe to magnify their hypocrisy.

I think what cracks me up is this Eric Conn dude is probably a keyboard warrior working a desk job or something. I highly doubt he’s out busting his ass herding cattle and building fences then making some self righteous post on xitter.

Check his avatar and that pic. Money says tough guy here couldn’t hang with my old ass outside at Lowe’s for a single shift. He’d stroke out if I strapped 20lbs. to his back, handed him a rifle and marched him down to the creek with me. LOL, he ain’t gonna cowboy nothing.

And what in the AI is that cowboy supposed to be doing? Running, uh, fence? Creating a lasso out of, uh, ropey stuff?

He’s unbaling hay to roll it out or let it loose in a feeder ring. Holding twine or net wrap and next to a big pile of hay. Don’t think it’s AI. Cows usually get pretty interested when someone is doing that. Tend to swarm to get to be the first one with their head in the hay.
