How are you using new AI technology? Maybe you're only deploying things like ChatGPT to summarize long texts or draft up mindless emails. But what are you losing by taking these shortcuts? And is this tech taking away our ability to think?

    Soon Im going to become known on lemmy as the guy with -that- batshit uncle with all the stories but.

    *my Uncle used to be an astoundingly intelligent man, he was a talented computer engineer who had several very high paying jobs in the 00s and 10s until his life fell apart due to being angry at the world over something and hitching his entire lifestyle to Trump.

    anyway. nowadays. He cant go through the day without consulting ChatGPT at least 30 times. the man cant function. he has no problem solving skills anymore, his answer is to go to ChatGPT for everything, from researching different models of electric toothbrushes, to philosophical questions about why he keeps getting passed on interviews.

    the ironic bit is that he has railed against the rest of the family for years telling us all that we’re all going to be destitude and die in the IMMINENT FINANCIAL COLLAPSE, if we dont invest our life savings into bitcoin. (nowadays, he talks about it more like its going to be a collapse of society, because he thinks the US is going to have a Civil war / mass murder purge in September when the “RFK Autism report” gets released)

      You know search engines have been answering literally all of your example queries for over a decade now? Those are all the lowest hanging fruit ever as far as search engine queries pre “AI’” go

    “AI” doesn’t exist. And the technologies labelled as such are literally not rotting my brain nor making me stupid at all. These are among the worst of the anti-AI arguments.
