I know people that complain about windows, but if they were to switch to Linux, their experience would deteriorate even further. I can’t get COD blackops 3 to not crash the amdgpu kernel driver.

Canada@lemmy.ca•BC Conservatives face renewed accusations of residential school denialism
1·15 days agoThere are literally six choices apart from the big 2 that meet that description that’s 54% of them, you didn’t actually look at the choices.
- Afaik only 5 of them are non-extremist, BC Strong is extremist, “Freedom Party of British Columbia” is also extremist, “Party of Citizens Who Have Decided To Think For Ourselves & Be Our Own Politicians” also sounds extremist af.
- I said our districts didn’t have any of those.
You don’t actually know how many people support these parties since everyone is forced to strategically vote
- That was mainly countering this, my point was that I know his views and positions on individual issues.
Also, sure the NDP has a one seat majority, but they still signed a cooporation agreement with the greens because a 1 seat majority leaves them vulnerable af.

Sure, but I know my friend, the only thing he’s not is a communist or fascist that leaves him open to center-right, center, center-left, and left. Almost non of those meet that description.
They actually have a razor thin majority.
Yeah I forgot, but after giving one to speaker position, they need a green party vote.
95% of countries that got proportional representation did so through multiparty agreements.
I agree, and I support it, but if it does happen, the opposition is going to go crazy because even though we pretend to be better, we’re really about as stupid as the US. We just have better systems.
I don’t get how any of that are negatives. I like guis, cli is good for scrupting, but what happens if/when you forget or just dont know a command or it’s options? Time to open the manual and spend hours learning exactly what argument and parameters does what.
Basic options on Linux requires terminal, last time I tried changing network settings like DNS on Gnome or KDE I had to fix their BS with nmtui, but sure linux is so ready…

3·28 days agoOfcourse we support proportional representation, except most of those parties we don’t agree with and/or they just don’t have a candidate in our districts.
Also NDP rn has a minority gov anyway so they might be forced by the Greens to try something.
What really pisses me off is that we had a referendum on this in 2018 and 61% voted for the current FPP system.

7·28 days agoThe thing is that many people are just unhappy with the current government and don’t know wbout things like this and don’t spend time on social media too.
And then there’s the ones who are fed propaganda by feed algorithms.
Yeah, I agree with everything you said!
Cool thanks for the source clown.
I really don’t understand, how do people have the gaul to make such an outlandish comment and publish onto the internet? At least try to prove such an outlandish statement with something.
Thank you! I’ve heard so many Canadians on subreddits want collective punishment and don’t want American victims of Trump to come to Canada even though they can be a massive help to both our economy and our weight in the world through higher numbers of educated people (brain gain instead of drain)! Lets not forget 49.9% voted for trump, the rest are fine imo.
How dare you use facts and logic! This is whining sublemmy and I find it appalling that you don’t just whine like everyone else!
Where is your source for this statement?

Canada@lemmy.ca•Guilbeault defends online censorship as Liberals revisit legislation
1·1 month agoGoogle defines Zionism as “a movement for (originally) the re-establishment and (now) the development and protection of a Jewish nation in what is now Israel.” This is my definition too. I disagree with land taking, but Jews deserve their own country too, they are under constant prosecution and escape goated everywhere. If it wasn’t going to be at least near the original Israeli tribes were, then I can’t think of anywhere else. The irony is that it’s the right that often escape goats jews for issues in the west, but the middle eastern countries have been prosecuting jews since long before Israel existed.
Also, like you said, what is done is done. But the borders shouldn’t change again.
I just hate the Israeli government tbh that Israelis keep electing. They don’t want peace, they violate international laws constantly, the coalition has genocide supporters, etc.
But the Gazan government is so bad that they haven’t even allowed free elections in almost 20 years.
Anyway, I doubt the courts will accept criticism of the Israeli government as supporting genocide, if someone expresses support for Hamas, or from river to sea, maybe, but not straight up criticism is Natenyahu and his dipshits.

1·1 month agoBut anti zionism is calling for genocide too. What do you think would happen to Israelis if the Israeli state ceased to exist? Especially if Hamas still exists. I don’t believe in collective punishment, and anti-zionism sounds pretty collective punishmenty to me.

1·1 month agoIts not about recognizing existing genocides, it’s about promoting genocide. For example, Trump and Netanyahu’s plan of taking over Gaza and turning it into a resort is promotion of genocide. Or calling for the elimination of people based on a protected attribute is promotion of genocide.

Canada@lemmy.ca•Guilbeault defends online censorship as Liberals revisit legislation
1·1 month agoNah, imo laws like that are why we don’t have Alex Jones and Tucker Carlson in Canada. Life in prison is probably the maximum and will probably only be used in extreme cases probably for repeat offenders clearly advocating for genocide.
Imo genocide apologism is very different from actually promoting one.

It was in BC though, municipalities don’t give a shit about housing shortages, and BC government is forcing them to make more higher density housing.
