I miss IRC circa 1995. I started using mIRC, which gave me a taste for programming. Then I switched to Linux and started using BitchX. The biggest grief we had to worry about were people creating Eggdrop bots to ride the netsplits to take over channels.
I would like to think this is what social media was originally intended for.
