    Kinda like watching an entire country pull the handbrake and go into a perfectly executed powerslide where they abruptly turn 180 and speed off in another direction.

      I wouldn’t say that.

      Just because he lost is seat doesn’t mean the conservatives didn’t gain any ground. It’s quite the opposite. And chances are, another MP is going to step down to have a partial election to elect him in another riding where he’ll be more popular.

      Best case scenario, he retires at the sweet young age of 45 with his cushy government pension and we never hear from him ever again.

        I’ve been cautioning people as well. Right-wing politics aren’t unpopular in Canada, it’s just that the the centrist voters got spooked my Trump.

        No one should bet on another miracle for the next election. The best case scenario may be that the PC wing retakes control of the federal Conservatives and we just get a raft of deregulation and privatization without all the culture war grievances.
