Donald Trump Jr. and MAGAworld pounced on the news of Joe Biden’s cancer diagnosis with wild speculation about a long term “cover-up” of the former president’s disease.
Hours after Biden’s office announced Sunday that he had been diagnosed with a “more aggressive form” of prostate cancer that has spread to his bones, Trump Jr. boosted a conspiracy that was already circulating among MAGA influencers and pundits.
“What I want to know is how did Dr. Jill Biden miss stage five metastatic cancer or is this yet another coverup???” he wrote on X.
GODDAMN IT. Every fucking thing that happens in this world has to be some kind of fucking conspiracy to these people. Nothing can just be what it is.
“Woke Seatbelts” was unironically a thing back in the 1980s. I remember AM Radio heads and far-right libertarians kicking and screaming about it, people proudly insisting they wouldn’t wear a seat belt and yelling at patrol officers who ticketed them, and lots of folks stories about people being “thrown clear of the wreck” or “trapped in their car burning to death” which made seatbelts more dangerous.
Literally go watch video interviews with the Boomers’ parents in the 1980s when seatbelt laws actually went into effect…

To me, the play here is to cock-block any possibility of their base exercising empathy for others. The fact that they have escalated beyond cries of “fake news” to straight up lies, is chilling.
