This is anecdotal, but 22 years ago I attended an event where the US Air Force proudly played a video of a Predator drone strike. I was a teenager who avidly gamed, and felt horror at what I was forced to witness because I knew these were real people who were dying agonizing deaths
To this day I still feel the same emotions when I think of it, and I can’t listen to Drowning Pool’s “Bodies” because that’s the song they played to accompany the footage
Yeah I’m not sure this is true, though I imagine it’s only a matter of time.
Anecdotally, but I know a guy who definitely has PTSD from, among other things, watching onscreen as such an automated weapon of war homed in on two combatants fleeing, closing in until finally one of them, looking over his shoulder directly at the camera, gave up and stopped running immediately before death.
Drones remove a human being from the chain, making it easier to kill more people more often because it’s less real
