His group spent nearly $1 million on ads opposing Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Donald Trump’s pick to lead the nation’s health agencies. He’s delivering speeches urging the president to stand with longstanding foreign allies and lobbying members of Congress while aides write letters and opinion columns.

This weekend, he posted an article he penned more than a decade ago on the limits of presidential power after Trump claimed that, “He who saves his Country does not violate any Law.”

Mike Pence is emerging as one of the last Republicans in Washington willing to publicly criticize the new administration.

It’s an especially jarring role for the former vice president, whose refusal to break with Trump defined their time together in office until the two had a falling out over Trump’s refusal to accept the results of the 2020 election and his efforts to remain in power.

That’s how I felt about McCain and Romney during Trump 1.0.

Overton Window damn near shattered now.

Pretty sure we’re into the Overton Train Wreck at this point. We have destroyed normalcy so greatly that no headline is implausible and the fear of possible prosecution for any dissent is not unreasonable.

If I saw the headline, "Trump announces that the only meat that will be served in federal prisons is the flesh of his political enemies. " My reaction would be some sort of numb, “ah cannibalism, already?”

I guess the whole “Hang Mike Pence” thing really stuck in his craw.

The old guard Republicans are just mad the power is being taken from them.

They built this fucking monster, they get to own it. So fuck you Mike Pence, own this shit.

It’s wild that like Pence the farmers, minorities, and other Trump supporters have to literally be threatened with their lives or livelihood to get the fucking message he doesn’t fucking care about anyone but himself and those that benefit him in a given instant.

If you read the article, Pence was opposed to RFK Jr because he was previously pro-choice. Pence’s priorities are still deplorable.

Yes. Policy is something to criticize politicians for. But he at least comes across as someone that draws the line at the destruction of the rule of law in USA and I guess that’s count for something.

President Hindenberg and Francis von Pappen also disavowed Hitler once they realized they were never getting power back. I’m proud of Pence for realizing he helped build a monster, I just hope the Mike Pence of 80 years from now doesn’t build another.

Honestly fuck both of them. Let’s not pretend that pence has the average citizens interest in mind. He’s looking out for himself only

I don’t agree with Mike Pence on almost anything. I don’t respect much about him other than his conduct during the insurrection. He refused to get whisked away in a vehicle to god knows where and stayed in the capitol where a mob wanted to hang him to certify the election. He had physical courage at the one time he needed to and that is the one thing he has done that deserves to be recognized. Otherwise fuck him.

Yeah but the enemy of my enemy may not be my friend but they can be useful to ally with against our shared enemy.

Pence is awful. But I’ll admit, I read him wrong a decade ago. I thought he was a Christian dominionist first and likes American democracy and the constitution if he can have it as well. But when push came to shove he turned out to actually support American democracy more than Christian dominionism, a thing he definitely still believes in. He’s not a good person, but he seems to not be a fascist actually, so to him I apologize for assuming him to be one based on his prior words, actions, and general vibes.

Enough of this defeatist “too little too late” bullshit. These comments are plagued with you fucks. We need EVERY little rock we can find to get stuck in their gears. We must move forward, so we can either accept defeat or beat back the second coming of Hitler. I don’t think anyone should be shamed for fighting for what’s right.

After residing in Indiana during Pence’s reign, I assure you that he’s no better than Trump. He’s just the religious fundamentalist alternative to Trump and he’s not as dumb.
