The EU Commission spent most of 2024 getting knocked around by opponents of its anti-encryption efforts. While it did find some support from countries with, shall we say, more authoritarian urges, …

Not if they don’t want to stand out like a soar thumb. While it maybe true that if E2EE is outlawed only outlaws will use it that and national agencies, use of it will be criminalized.

TBH, it’s kind of fighting yesterday’s wars. To play devil’s advocate I think they should be working to outlaw quantum resistant encryption instead.

This could be an exceptional way to ban all crypto assets.

I’m so tired of the EPP. Also I wish these outlets where better at reporting anything related to the EU. do know there are parties like there are parties in the US? all this shit comes from the EPP.

Please have Police focus on better using the data it already has. Rather than just giving it the power to hoard more personal data and endangering public liberties.

Existing police records are riddled with errors:

Piling more data on top won’t fix these errors. Putting more effort in fixing errors would make the records more useful to police, and would probably avoid ruining the lives of innocents people.
