This is what Trump does: the wildest takes non-stop, beyond of what anyone considers decent, but if the polls clearly show that he’s falling out of favor, he’s always ready to make a U-turn, and brag about it.

Trump’s word is worthless. Just keep watching what he does. So far, he’s done nothing but align with Putin’s agenda.
He also talked in favour of Ukraine before taking office, so much that I thought he might actually have meant it, only to turn around and do whatever the fuck that meeting with Zelensky was. He can never be trusted to do the right thing, ever.
Putin will lecture him and he’ll change his mind within a week at most.

Quite possible, but to date it seems to be two steps forward and one step back. So then we’re a few weeks from Trump declaring his support for Ukraine.

Eh, a few days from now Trump will say something like “I had an amazing call with Putin. He is a great guy, Ukraine should surrender now”. Dude can’t remember what he said yesterday.

I think his unrealistic 24 hour plan was to give putin what he thought he wanted. Eg all the territory he’s captured so far and assurances against nato action/withdrawal of some western personnel at nato border country bases. You know putin’s public story.

Your mistake here is assuming that this level of thought is possible by trump. There’s no 4d chess here. He’s just being played for an idiot cause that’s what he is.
I guess Trump is playing 0.4d chess, i.e. chess on a linear board that is 0.4 times as long in its single dimension as a regular chess board (3 tiles), on that kind of board it does look like winning is easy obviously.
