Do you watch the end credits when you beat a video game?

Depends on the game. If it’s a game I love a lot, then I’m interested in knowing the names of the people who gave me a great experience

I do it for a lot of different reasons (example in parents):

    • Game was good (Obra Dinn): To show appreciation
    • Emotional or great story (Witcher 3): To digest
    • Very hard game (Celeste): Bask is the victory
    • Grindy game: Finally done so I can relax

Only if there is something to watch during them. If it’s just a bunch of names scrolling across a static screen then no.

Yes, watching the end credits gives me a sense of accomplishment and I enjoy the things creators put in there

I have the end credits of both Portal games in my playlist. I think we can agree those are some of the best credits in gaming history.

*sigh* Speaking of which, that reminds me of when I finally played Portal for the first time. Everybody was talking about how hilarious and amazing the end credits were…

Imagine my disappointment when finally beat the game, only to find out they the “hilarious song” was just Still Alive, a tune I had already heard thousands of times before, thanks to all the memes.

        Being young sucks.

Being old is not so great, either.

Being dead sucks more, so… yeah.

I always find I wholesome when they list all the people that became parents during time of development. Horizon Zero Dawn is amongst the games that does this.

Horizon Zero Dawn delivering on so many fronts. Love that game. 100%'ed it, and the expansion.

I can’t wait to start my Forbidden West adventure.

Final Fantasy VI has almost 30 minutes of credits. Well worth it for the 50+ hours you can put into it. And the music is so worth it (it’s an epilogue more than just scrolling text)

Depends on how it makes me feel. There was a particular ending in Cyberpunk that I couldn’t stand to watch. But typically I feel good and accomplished, so I stick around

Cyberpunk 2077’s credit sequences are fantastic. I know which ending you’re talking about, and those voicemails are hard to listen to.

      'cause we lost everythiiiiiing

I struggled to get through the one where Judy is “very sad”. The voice acting was phenomenal and heart wrenching.

I always sit through credits in movies and most TV if I’ve enjoyed it, games are no different. I like acknowledging the folks who make the things I enjoy.

There’s also the chance of some post-credits plot material or other good stuff. I found myself absorbed way into the plot of the first Metal Gear Solid game and I’ll never forget the surprise phone conversation which played after those credits, or the absolute chill the final two words of it sent up my spine. (The somewhat underwhelming ways in which that particular plot reveal was taken up in the subsequent games notwithstanding.)

Same with me. If it’s really good it’s my simple way of honoring them. Plus the music is usually top notch

Totally agree on the music. Bopping in my seat to the game’s tunes for one last stretch can be a nice victory lap.

no, and unless they are interactive I’m against the whole idea.

edit: I phrased that poorly, I mean credits as we know them now (20 minute sequence scrolling a poorly formatted list of names). obviously people should have their names on things they worked on but it is annoying having it be so obtrusive and long-winded.

I totally get not wanting to watch them, but how can you be against the idea of creators having their name attached to something??

I phrased it poorly, I meant credits as they are now like the slow scroll over a list. i wouldnt mind a screen with a couple pages of names (and in movies, just like flash a few screens if names instead of a 20 minute sequence) but as they are now its just annoying.

Usually only if there’s something good as part of the credits (eg. Portal 1 & 2)
