Jury Duty is an absolutely fun and refreshing show unlike any other I have seen. I really needed the laughs. 😊

It centers around a young man named Ronald. He believes he’s a part of a jury trial that is also being recorded for the purpose of creating a documentary of the jury process. The reality is that it’s a fake trial and there is no documentary. Everyone is an actor except him.

The cast, writers, and producers did such an incredible job considering that there’s no such thing as a retake. If they made a mistake, they had the roll with it. Even James Marsden is there playing a ridiculous version of himself.

The show ends up being both hilarious and surprisingly wholesome, mostly because Ronald is just such a good, down-to-earth guy in the middle of all the chaos.

Did you see it? What did you think? 😁

I’m honestly not sure how I feel about that. On one hand it could be good again… but there are so many downsides. Lightning in a bottle for one, for two a ton of people heard about it, I don’t think we’re ever going to get such a genuine version again.

I think season 2 was filmed soon enough where it wouldn’t have been spoiled.

But because I found out about this show so late, I suspect there’s quite a few people that they can do this. Just need to screen well.

The method they used for the first season might not work for long. I’m glad they revealed how they did it because I was so curious how this could have been set up in the first place.

I thought it was ok, the beginning and ending were pretty good, but the middle seemed to drag a bit to me. The casting was really good for the roles that needed specialist knowledge like the judge.

Just finished this with my friends and it was a fun group watch.

James Marsden waa great and they really found a good stooge to be the unaware guy.

I thought it was really well done, but there were a few parts that feel kinda gross for the deception/voyeurism of it. It’s also a big gamble the subject doesn’t get upset after the reveal and ask not to include their face or voice in the show.

I was definitely concerned like you were. I know he agreed to film for the documentary, but I have a bad feeling that even if it didn’t go well they could probably still legally use the material.

If for whatever reason he found himself in a position that was extremely embarrassing or detrimental somehow, then it would be ethically wrong for them to publish the material. The winnings that he earned might not overcome how it could make him feel.

If there was some sort of protection in place, I would love for this to keep going. But the more I think about it, I don’t think such protections exist. There’s no way they’re going to throw away 30 days of footage and effort and planning and coordination and etc.

I’ve been thinking the same. Honestly, everyone that posts about it seems to love it. The ratings are great. I can’t believe it took us so long to find and watch it ourselves.

I enjoyed it. A good while back there was a fake competition reality show called The Joe Schmo Show, where everybody was an actor except 1 guy. His reaction at the reveal was fantastic and he was a super good guy. I can’t remember but I have a vague immersion that he might have been a little salty down the line.

I just looked it up on Wikipedia. Looks like they revived it for a fourth season this year. I may take a look to see if it’s worth watching. Since it debuted on Spike TV, I’m feeling a little 😬 about it. I’m always uneasy with hoaxes.

I can’t speak to the other seasons but 1 was pretty good. You can probably get away with watching the first couple and last couple episodes to enjoy the ending.
