New York Mayor Eric Adams did not mince his words about his disapproval of what he called the large number of “nasty” Gen Z voters supporting Zhoran Mamdani, the democratic socialist candidate leading the race for NYC mayor.

you have no regard for the civility

I don’t know under what rock he’s lived for the past 10 years, but civility in politics has been quite thoroughly killed by Trump and his lackeys, which now seems to include Adams. He picked the side of no civility, so he’s reaping what ue sowed.

Adams accused left-leaning schools and institutions of radicalizing young people, claiming they are being taught to hate their city and country, which is a trend, he says, that must be addressed.

Again, Trump is doing that. He’s running on a platform of hating about half of all Americans, and especially coastal cities.

It’s something that used to be said on occasion and shock people and now it’s just expected. So… yeah, pretty much now.

Just reread your comment and that was already what you were saying. I was trying to be funny, thereby adding nothing and potentially confusing other readers, including myself.

          I’ll show myself out.

Not an original bone in their body. 2 years ago the right wing would have used similar language against him, being a PoC, and combined with their generic hatred of a liberal city.

Media blackout. Only focus on the response to his ideas so it seems like the wave is against him and his ideas only exist to be opposed. When they spread his ideas people like them. When you only frame them by how much backlash they receive, it seems like they’re crazy

Giving NY a muslim mayor sounds like a very interesting idea. The LGBTQ… Collective is about to discover how it is to live in interesting times.

And that tells is what exactly? That Jews shouldn’t vote for a muslim? It’s obviously not the case. That humans can’t make wrong and uninformed choices?

So what was the purpose of your comment? Framing Mahmdani as a moderate muslim? We’re going into no true scotsman territory then, because what is and what’s isn’t a muslim is very clearly defined by rules of Islam, the Umma and the scholars. What they have said about Jews is widely known, isn’t it?

Saying that he is muslim is racist? How so? Is islam a race? No, being muslim isn’t a race, you can’t convert to another “race” but you become a muslim. Is being LGBTQ not considered fahisha and zina? Don’t the hadiths and the sharia tell how to deal with sinners? Are you calling me a liar?

So if I understand you correctly, you’re saying that him being a Muslim makes it inevitable that he will apply Sharia law (or something equivalent) to NYC?

He either is a muslim or he isn’t. I made a very clear statement about who can expect what, I didn’t say he would introduce Sharia law. Are you saying he isn’t a true muslim? Are you saying you know better? Why are you trying to twist my words, is it because you lack understanding or because of ulterior motives?

I think the LGBTQ+ folk can probably go ahead and not do what you’re implying they should do: worry.

Mamdani attended a Trans Community Town Hall with Ceyenne Doroshow in May, where he spoke with several activists about his plans for LGBTQ+ New Yorkers.

“New York City must be a refuge for LGBTQIA+ people, but private institutions in our own city have already started capitulating to Trump’s assault on trans rights,” the Democratic candidate wrote in an Instagram post. “Meanwhile, the cost of living crisis confronting working class people across the city hits the LGBTQIA+ community particularly hard, with higher rates of unemployment and homelessness than the rest of the city.”

Mamdani’s campaign promises included: The expansion and protection of gender-affirming care across New York City; the commitment to “strengthen and uphold the rights of queer and trans New Yorkers” through sanctuary protections; and the creation of an “Office of LGBTQIA+ Affairs” with the intent to “expand and centralize the services, programs, and support LGBTQIA+ New Yorkers’s needs across housing, employment, and more.”

Guess what buddy, all of those so-called nasty voters are going to vote for whoever the hell they want, and you can call them names, but they don’t give a f*** what you think.
