"Pete #Hegseth’s big, urgent military summit will just be a “pep rally” for what he calls the “warrior ethos.” "
“It’s about getting the horses into the stable and whipping them into shape,” an anonymous defense official told the outlet. “And the guys with the stars on their shoulders make for a better audience from an optics standpoint. This is a showcase for Hegseth to tell them: Get on board, or potentially have your career shortened.”
Ah, so this was all just to threaten them.
Takes balls to gather the actually toughest people in the world and then try to intimidate them.
US military leadership are not remotely the toughest people in the world.
Not now that they’re exempting top brass from training due to “technical knowledge”
Or absolute fucking idiocy.
He is trying to get as many of them to resign as he can by jerking their chain.

Public photo-op and rally. Privately? Loyalty test.
Yeah kind of glossed over the part where he’s going to threaten to shorten people’s careers, which sounds a lot like firing?
I should clarify - the U.S. Army Warrior Ethos is
I will always place the mission first.
I will never accept defeat.
I will never quit.
I will never leave a fallen comrade.
So… Flying everyone back to D.C. for a pep rally is quite literally making them not place the mission first and violating the first line…
So, yeah, he’s planning a coup.
The Trump regime has to be the saddest bunch of insecure fucking losers that have ever had the reigns of power.
Fascists are always insecure fucking losers.
That’s why they are fascists, they are fucking terrified of everything and so turn to a “higher power” to make them feel safe and secure. It serves the same function as religion
Also the meanest and most vindictive and malicious.
The most greedy. Not the most capable though.
I don’t know any generals and I don’t have much of an idea of what internal military politics are like. But I’d like to think that our top brass have a deep understanding of the history of how wars develop, see the writing on the wall and do a coup. They are literally the only force that can kill this cancer before it fully metastasizes.
hence them getting rid of as many 4 stars as they can
It’s probably a good time for those generals and admirals to discuss how they will overthrow the soon to be despot.
The military is a machine, not a person. You point, click, and tell them what to shoot. That’s it. They don’t do political policy.
And really, that’s a good thing if you think about it. Like it or not, Trump and his flunkies are in the White House because the majority of voters put them there, so when you get down to it, it’s the majority’s job to get rid of him if they don’t like him.
I mean, do you really want the military to go, ‘hey, we know y’all elected this guy, but we don’t like him, so we’re going to just get rid of him’? Just because they’d be getting rid of a guy we don’t like this time doesn’t make it a good thing.

No, but I do want them to refuse to follow illegal orders.
All those other countries who have had military coups should have told their militaries that they don’t do political policy.
Military personnel swear on oath to the constitution, not to the president.
Read the entire oath. You are also sworn to obey the orders of the President and the officers appointed over you.
Trump and his flunkies are in the White House because the majority of voters put them there,
Incorrect. A majority of voters selected other candidates. Trump received 49.8% of the vote.
I want to jump on the pedantry train. Around 36% of eligible voters didn’t cast a ballot for president, so if Trump received 49.8% of the vote, then - in the original terms of “x% of voters out Trump in the White House” - .498 * (1-0.36) = about 32% of voters. Meaning more eligible voters didn’t vote than selected Trump.
The highest voter share went to “abstain”.
Don’t you love having a voting system where the majority doesn’t win?
About as much as I love having 9 people appointed for life that can overrule that voting system in case it does actually let the majority win.
If you really think the US military is just a machine then I would like you to do a little research and find out what all the recent 3 and 4 star generals are doing after they retire. I can tell you they are not sippin pina coladas on Coronado.
Are you for real here? It is not a secret what this admin is. Cannot be denied. And that invalidates your point.
I’m just staying that the military won’t depose Trump.
Imagine: the three and four stars being the ones who frag his ass?
I can’t believe this thought hasn’t occurred to them.
“You had enough of this shit too?”
Hegseth plans to have his speech recorded and later released.
Oh that should be fuckin hilarious
This is the peak “this could have been an email” meeting
Every member of the armed forces needs to remember that they are required NOT to follow ILLEGAL orders, and they’ve sworn to uphold and defend THE CONSTITUTION from ALL ENEMIES, foreign and DOMESTIC
They’re a bunch of servile meatheads who will do fuck all. The BEST of them were all purged by Trump and even they are just sitting by quiet and complicit.

Is this like that asshat manager that always wants to hold some “team building” exercise, make everyone travel into the office or some central location, and then make it all about themselves?
Unless that’s just the shitty cover story
I mean, it’s possible. But it’s also much more likely than this idiot has actually done this ridiculous thing for this preposterous reason.
Like… We all have this friend who, whenever they get into trouble, some might think they did it out of malice. But, you know the guy, and know right off the bat that he got into trouble because he did something stupid, not something intentionally malicious.
And how do you know this? Because they’ve done it before, and they’ll do it again.
Have y’all ever listened to or seen anything about Hegseth? He’s prattled on about this “warrior ethos” shit endlessly and was literally too stupid and incompetent for Fox fucking News. This is exactly the kind of stupid shit he’d pull.
Sounds like a cover story to me
This is the ethos:
As someone with actual Norwegian roots I can’t stand the Nazis’ appropriation of imagery. Not that there is anything that I can stand about the Nazis.
this is the only valhalla kash is ever gonna get
When your tax dollars could have been an email
What the fuck, Pete.
