I still use flynx, so I know what do you mean. I heard that google was severely limiting for apps that display over other apps (security/privacy threats), so development was challenging . It’s sad there aren’t any options in this area right now.

It would be nice if they implemented some sort of backup to self-hosted nextcloud.
I’ve lost a lot of bookmarks due to corruption or bookmarks being duplicated on organic and it’s predecessors. I bookmark all sort of things in my travels. So, a better backup system would be a deciding factor for me, at least.
All big companies have social media monitors to analyse posts about themselves, analyzing sentiment and then counter negative news with their vast trove of astroturfing bots. The social media is setup to be as opaque to the world as it can be, to be manipulated.
There’s always going to be someone outside or inside the company (considering how big some companies are) defending, then marketing moves them to the top. Deflect and divide opinions and shame naysayers.
It’s been going on since forever, now enhanced with AI.
it seems like their heads have been photoshopped into the picture. seems completely off
Yankistanis always have talking points that deflect their own wrongdoings but does not apply to others in similar scenario.
Just get it over with

AI Blog slop.
They don’t really care if people in protests live or die as long as they can stroke their each others prejudices.
US was built on genocide, opression, slavery and immigrants. This vile attempt to somehow shield yourself from “messages” that offend you is what led to this mess.
They were obviously ecstatic when Hongkong protest for democracy were waving US flags like it meant freedom and liberty. It was all awesome and sent good messages, but now, es no bueno.
So much propaganda that people are worried about the “message” than actual history.
Or get something like a rapsberry-pi (second hand or on a sale). I have netbird running on it and I can use it to access my home network and also use it as tunnel my traffic through it.
We’ll have to wait and see how much of the execs pay is reduced since they’re cutting costs.
the issue is portability. Should I use a password manager’s passkey or the OS’s. What about wanting to login with a passkey on a different machine with a different OS. Every implementation is trying to fight to be used. I don’t remember them allowing multiple passkeys for login, do they?
Finally, if you really care, you don’t want Google/Apple/Microsoft “cloud” to hold your keys when they offer it with their devices. For when your account gets whacked for no reason/device gets lost or stolen, or broken, all your “worry” will start worrying.
There’s much to worry about unless you only ever use a single device.
My conspiracy theory is, somehow, in their twisted little brains, they genuinely think their 2020 tactics to kill most of their die-hard fans works in their favor.
As 2024 really showed how much of their cult doesn’t give a shit unless shit directly affects them. And even then, they’ll blame it on the other side.
It’s been shoving their misinformation generator ever since they got into advertising tho.
Its search results have been Ads above SEO spam above clickbait youtube videos over pinterest pics above any actual informative result for a long while.
How to post when no one is reading… by self publishing it on Hackernews. 🤦♂️
Fennec seems to have 2 trackers

Ironfox apparently hasn’t been scanned by exodus yet. I couldn’t find it.
“This revision attempts to implement something that has been deemed illegal in the EU and the United States,” Yen claimed
What is he talking about? US and EU to some extent do store and track user data.
And don’t the big names have a surveillance pact to share each others data?
yep, I used to save articles on pocket for my study so I could read it later.
After writing, I’d need to cite all the statements in my paper, pocket provided an easy list to reference.
The best way to browse on your Phone is on Firefox with its massive collection of extensions (that arent neutered to google’s liking).
Firefox’s not perfect or the fastest, but I can wait a few ms for it to be actually useful.
it is. I remember the dev talking about releasing their own fork of the webview that’s privacy oriented.
This was years ago. Hasn’t been released yet.
You’re probably on some list now. /s
