I’d recommend webp
Everything supports it and it can be lossy or lossless as needed.
Watch some startup “invent” a revolutionary lossless format that discards some information.

Carighan Maconar@piefed.worldto Not The Onion@lemmy.world•We’re in big trouble’: pope concerned at Elon Musk’s trillion-dollar proposed payEnglish12·8 days agoI did a lot of thinking about this over the years (not the youngest one anymore) and I will say that I think my personal limit would be at ~10 mil. Beyond that, I fail to comprehend what amount of money I have. I can comprehend 1 mil, which means I can use in excess of that in some capacity, even pointlessly.
But 10 mil? That stops being an amount of cash, it’s just “Me rich nao”.

Bloober Team could finish this faster and more competently than these clowns…

Carighan Maconar@piefed.worldto Games@lemmy.world•The recent Steam censorship debacle actually sort of opened me up to adult games.English4·28 days agoYeah the exceptions are rare, and then many like HuniePop 1 and 2 or Subverse lean intentionally into overdone slapstick.
(That being said HuniePop I can’t recommend enough, easily the best match-3 out there completely ignoring the porn parts)
Carighan Maconar@piefed.worldto Games@lemmy.world•The recent Steam censorship debacle actually sort of opened me up to adult games.English15·28 days agoAnd then you usually get “But the sex isn’t realistic!!!”… yeah? Neither is the violence, unless you are frequently the Doomslayer or something?!
Like, how is that even an argument. How can violence in games be preferrable to sex?!
Carighan Maconar@piefed.worldto Fediverse@lemmy.world•There's a lot of discussion of Mississippi's age verification law for social media today, after Bluesky announced they're blocking the state.English1·29 days agoOf course, but whether you’re decentralized or not has nothing to do with whether you as someone running a service has to decide for themselves whether to block Mississippi users or risk legal consequences?
Carighan Maconar@piefed.worldto Fediverse@lemmy.world•There's a lot of discussion of Mississippi's age verification law for social media today, after Bluesky announced they're blocking the state.English1·29 days agoEach instance still has an owner. Just like the Bluesky CEO, they need to decide whether the (legal) risks are worth it to them and whether they can cover the (legal) costs if needed.
For any individual instance owner, this changes nothing.

There’s a difference between being decentralized and doing something illegal, you know?
Carighan Maconar@piefed.worldto Fediverse@lemmy.world•There's a lot of discussion of Mississippi's age verification law for social media today, after Bluesky announced they're blocking the state.English1·30 days agoEntirely understandable. Like you say, it’s not your fight. This is more so if one creates something and isn’t even from the US, if the wankers in a specific US state elect shitty government, that’s not on you in a wholly different country to go up against.
Is it an EU thing that they included a link to do this directly in the announcement mail? Either way, thanks for posting this!
