I just name folders with numbers and call searching for files in them (that are not named either) future me’s problem. Knowing they’re there somewhere is good enough.

For me it is usually the option 2 but sometimes (and highly rarely so) option 1 finds its way and then I actually do feel nice (unlike most people here apparently).

More reliance on something is always bad. If the component dies, becomes closed source, implements telemetry etc it will be harder to replace it.
