I knew I liked those 404 folks. I might need to upgrade to a paid subscription.

Alas, I am not.

StitchInTime@piefed.socialtoHacker News@lemmy.bestiver.se•It's time for modern CSS to kill the SPAEnglish2·2 months agoAh, yes… transitions are lovely, and modern CSS is quite the magician. But really, must the author sneer so theatrically at SPAs? His disdain bleeds through every paragraph. One might almost suspect he’s less interested in performance… and more in winning an argument.

StitchInTime@piefed.socialto Games@lemmy.world•How Sonic went from “fighting to survive” to being a global megastar in 10 years: Sega’s Sonic series producer tells allEnglish3·3 months agoBasically Christian Whitehead and a rag-tag group of fans saved the franchise, and it’s been slipping back into old patterns since. Frontiers introduced interesting ideas, but the next game needs to build on that, which, let’s be honest, it won’t.
Just give the franchise to the fans at this point.
StitchInTime@piefed.socialto Fuck Cars@lemmy.world•If you want to build apartments and homes in Nashville, you are required to build parking for cars. Otherwise, the city council will kill your project. English4·3 months agoI realize you’re getting downvoted with a lot of comparisons to Japan, and I wanted to lend a real life example.
In Chicago, it’s not uncommon for the parking space to have a separate title not tied to the people who live there, and each vehicle also has to register for a city sticker, which is basically an annual tax. Most parking is street parking, a house would have like 2 spots in the alley, but that might be for a 2 unit building.
It’s not the same as what others are suggesting, but a bit scaled back from what Nashville is requiring.
The Bazzite console I built which is connected to my living room TV stands in contradiction. The Linux-driven gaming PC that’s sitting on my desk is confirmation.
Windows 11 and the forced obsolescence of hardware is leaving a sour aftertaste, and at this point a game maker essentially has to choose to not support Linux via Proton.
You might not be able to run Battlefield or CoD, but Marvel Rivals and Overwatch run particularly well, if not better on Linux.
And with Microsoft entering the handheld market, this is very much a question of Linux vs Windows for gaming.
