I go to Aldis, which never have music playing in any of them. People are definitely not more quiet. I envy you

Thanks for clarifying for me. Yeah I should’ve maybe given a clear do NOT go picking hogweed to eat, or even that near it, unless you’re absolutely sure you can identify one from the other. Despite it’s name, giant hogweed is very often just as large as the common hogweed surrounding it. It still needs to grow to that size, after all
There’s so much hogweed all over the UK that’s just sitting there, uneaten. Not the giant stuff, that’s not a fun time. But the regular stuff has good flavour
Also tons of wild garlic when the seasons in
If true and I had to bet, I’d go with Stephen Miller
All this needs is an amogus fella hidden in one of the blocks to add some more spice for future peoples
Ahhh I see from the coverage I’ve heard on this it seemed that people were thinking her appeal was her last chance and if she did go to prison then there’s no chance she’d be allowed to live. That she’d be doing all this going after appeals and a presidential pardon with the “if you don’t give me this, I’m going to tell the world all I know” angle. I guess maybe she could have done that but they called her bluff and threatened her back and she decided living the rest of her life in a comfy prison was better than death? I dunno, correct me if there’s reason not to think that
Please excuse my ignorance but why is that? Genuinely curious
Enjoy “committing suicide” in prison, you demon
knowone@slrpnk.netto World News@lemmy.world•BREAKING: Israeli authorities have beaten Greta Thunberg, made her kiss Zionist flagEnglish1·8 天前Mate can you actually read? I replied to your comment to push back against you expecting Greta to be standing up on a platform and immediately talking about all of this stuff to the world when she’s going to be very traumatised. And that she would be whether what the article says is true or not. That’s it. Nothing else
My whole point has been about that, not about the article and it’s accuracy. The only times I’ve said anything about the latter is cos you keep somehow not understanding that I’m not talking about the accuracy of the article and bringing it back up again. And even then the only thing I really said in response to that was pushing back against you saying The Canary is niche when it actually isn’t really. And also telling you to read it, seeing as you clearly hadn’t from what you’ve said in replies. You didn’t understand entirely what you were arguing against in the article and now you’re not understanding my point at all and have somehow gone off thinking I’m saying things that I’m not
Hit & Run was also fantastic
knowone@slrpnk.netto Television@piefed.social•Matthew McConaughey talks a potential ‘True Detective’ Revival2·8 天前I just don’t see how coming back to the setup of the first season would be a good idea. It was a masterpiece, I love it, but where could it actually go? I feel like it’s just going to be yet another of the masses of mostly badly done remakes and reboots at the moment cos the TV and Film industries are struggling with original ideas and have for a long while now
Also obviously I don’t know if they’ll do the same kinda vibe as the first season but I’m not sure if it would go over well these days? Like the darkness of it, sure, and the philosophical pessimism could to an extent but if they do it as it was in the first season I think it’d just come across edgelordy and a bit cringe nowadays. Especially seeing as it really didn’t do female characters well at all, they were mostly just there to “get in the men’s way” or want their dick. I could see it getting labeled as “the incel show”
knowone@slrpnk.netto World News@lemmy.world•BREAKING: Israeli authorities have beaten Greta Thunberg, made her kiss Zionist flagEnglish1·9 天前If you can’t understand why someone wouldn’t go out in front of the world and make big statements in line with these claims, or any statement at all, immediately after a very traumatising experience then you really need to work on your empathy and understanding of basic human emotion. I understand your skepticism, to a point. I just gave a very obvious reason why she hasn’t talked about the harrowing things she went through in detail to the public straight away, whether they are as is said in this article or not. Even thinking about them is going to be very difficult for her, nevermind doing what you’re expecting
Edit: Taken out a sentence that isn’t relevant, as I thought you were the OP of this comment thread before
knowone@slrpnk.netto World News@lemmy.world•BREAKING: Israeli authorities have beaten Greta Thunberg, made her kiss Zionist flagEnglish1·9 天前I’m not a chatbot, you can read the article yourself and find out these things. I haven’t insisted the article is credible. Go back and read what I wrote and you’ll see that
knowone@slrpnk.netto World News@lemmy.world•BREAKING: Israeli authorities have beaten Greta Thunberg, made her kiss Zionist flagEnglish5·9 天前Where in the article does it say she gave testimony herself? Also it isn’t that much of a niche news site, it’s one of the biggest left wing news outlets in the UK, probably the second biggest after Novara
knowone@slrpnk.netto World News@lemmy.world•BREAKING: Israeli authorities have beaten Greta Thunberg, made her kiss Zionist flagEnglish2·9 天前Nice editing and erasing most of what you said in this comment. Realised you’ve been talking shit eh?
knowone@slrpnk.netto World News@lemmy.world•BREAKING: Israeli authorities have beaten Greta Thunberg, made her kiss Zionist flagEnglish2·9 天前Didn’t realise “plausible” was a synonym for ”true". Do you wanna stop strawmanning me or? And you are doing it to try and talk down to me, be real. You can be “precise” without using those terms. It has similar energy as someone weaponising psychology terms in a conflict in order to try and seem like the one in the right by virtue of being “more intelligent”
knowone@slrpnk.netto World News@lemmy.world•BREAKING: Israeli authorities have beaten Greta Thunberg, made her kiss Zionist flagEnglish2·9 天前Ok so…how have I said anything that goes against that? I’ve not once said I believe it or that others should and that we should have solid evidence before we believe something. I like the throwing out philosophy terms you’re doing in order to try and talk down to me too
knowone@slrpnk.netto World News@lemmy.world•BREAKING: Israeli authorities have beaten Greta Thunberg, made her kiss Zionist flagEnglish21·9 天前Yeah I’ve noticed a lot of the engagement to what’s said here is similar to r/worldnews a lot of the time. There just needs to be more communities on other instances so we don’t have to deal with the enlightened centrism that dominates reddit on here too and the libs can have their own space aswell
knowone@slrpnk.netto World News@lemmy.world•BREAKING: Israeli authorities have beaten Greta Thunberg, made her kiss Zionist flagEnglish5·9 天前Have you considered that maybe she’s very traumatised both physically and mentally at the moment and is recovering first before she steps out into the public eye again?
I’m from the countryside in north of England and have lived in London at points for many years of my life. London is generally the worst for proper British food, in my experience. The best fry ups, fish and chips and all that you’re gunna get is in small towns or villages where the place itself is bare bones and no frills. Far cheaper too
That said, I’ll of course take most other cuisine over our own. I do like foods that require a good amount of seasoning and some actual spice. Our cuisine is really helped by those too as I see it. But most people here seem to draw the line at black pepper, sadly
