      I don’t really know anything about guns, but most especially this one. Why is the f2000 sealed up in a plastic assembly? Is it for ergonomics or to reduce production costs or something? Sincere question.

        Protection from grit. And because polymers that can resist balistic shock and heat had only very recently been invented by then, and it was “cool” to find a way to make it useful.
