Hey, that’s not true! He failed to bring peace to the Middle East (which has been in a constant state of turmoil or imperialist occupation for one reason or another since the Romans took over Judea)!

Are you fucking kidding me? Go spread your historically illiterate (and very racist) misinformation elsewhere; the Middle East under the Ottoman empire was exceptionally stable before European imperialism wrecked the region.

My bad, apparently if the imperialism gets strong enough the region becomes stable. Good take-away, thanks for letting me know.

        I uh

think you may be viewing Ottoman imperialism through a very idealistic lens.

I never said I liked the Ottoman empire, but they kept the region stable; that’s like the one thing they were good for. There’s a lot to blame Ottoman imperialism for, with the obvious elephants in the room being the janissaries and the Armenian genocide, but they were pretty successful in keeping their Middle Eastern territories intact and free of armed conflict… until they weren’t.

I mean, other than the constant rebellions, raids, feuds, attempted usurpations, banditry, sectarian persecution, secessions, and interstate wars, I, uh, guess?
