Same. Thankfully android now makes apps ask permission. I never really press “yes” unless I exclusively want that

Is it push tho ? One thing is a red bubble or an in-app disclaimer . The offending level, for me, is a push notification.

I was thinking about on Windows. There was a stupid badge notification that wouldn’t go away until I looked at their ad for Boost.

Tangentially related, but I’ve had a “Tap here to accept the Samsung terms of service” notification for years now. I always swipe it away. I swear they always show it right after I had a bunch of other notifications to make me more likely to tap it. I have thus made it my life’s mission to never accept it.

Oh, originally it was because the ads and trash on their smart TVs. But then I keep hearing about build quality on appliances so I expanded the scope beyond TVs to everything. This phone thing is just another example of anti-consumer practices (though not as bad as some of the others).

Na, but it is a guaranteed way to having your notifications permission revoked.

And the ability to disable categories of notifications so that these “offers” can never pester me again is one of the greatest intentions of the digital age.

            Check your PM

Edit: for everyone downvoting, I had some very legitimate reasons, but they are too personally identifiable when all put together and I’d rather not end up with my name tied to my account.

Not the user you asked however I moved from Android to iOS a few months ago. Before this, I have tended to switch between platforms because I’m incredibly picky. Perhaps I believe the grass is always greener.

Most recently, my young Pixel 8 Pro had severe modem problems. There was a rash of bad updates that impacted me. I felt insulted being unable to use my phone when I needed it. I looked at Samsung, but I don’t like their brand of bloatware. iOS inspired confidence.

I took the L and sold my Pixel at significant loss to get something working now to stay in contact with my family. I love Pixel, but man do I feel sour about my connectivity problems on it.

Making me look at an ad without first getting my written consent should be a felony.

Please send a self-addressed stamped envelope to request permission. Expect 6 to 8 weeks for delivery of response.

Although I agree, I hope that you are also taking a look at the configuration of the allowed notifications for the app. I review that every time some shit like that happens.
