Fucking bitch ass move by a bitch ass corporation capitulating to a bitch ass administration.
The decision by Nexstar comes as the broadcast station is seeking FCC approval for its $6.2 billion mega deal to acquire Tegna, a deal that would make Nexstar by far the largest owner of local TV stations in the country.
The FCC would have to raise the 40 percent ownership cap in order to let the deal advance.
Quote from The Hollywood Reporter. Just like CBS with Colbert.
I came here to say exactly this.
Washington Post fired its black opinion editor because she quoted Charlie Kirk for saying:
“Black women do not have the brain processing power to be taken seriously. You have to go steal a white person’s slot.”
Let’s stop taking the Washington Post seriously
They are basically natuonal enquirer.
You were still taking Washpo seriously???
^ Kirk’s words ^
Those are paraphrases of Kirk’s words. It might be more accurate to say those are his positions.
Why were universities letting this shit bag talk to their students?
Especially since he never attended any college or had any education after high school.
Cause they agree with him?? Cause he paid them to be there? Who the fuck knows.
Because they are institutions that are trying to provide comprehensive discussion since the world is grey. We don’t have to like it, but that’s probably why they allow it. Plus, yes, they make money.
While they’re at it, they should have an astrologist come debate the statistics professor.
“I understand your point, well ok, I don’t really understand it, but that doesn’t matter. Mercury is in retrograde so that explains everything. No need to bring numbers into this, unless we’re consulting numerology, then we need them of course.”
That’s not why a conservative college in Utah does it
Reporter: “Mr. Krab, why were universities letting this shit bag talk to their students?”
Mr. Krab: “…MONEY.”
E: grammar
I’ve seen this before. It would really be a lot nicer if these quotes all had sources. Just showing someone a list of quotes with no context doesn’t really scream “credible” to this target audience.
ThAt’S oUt oF cOnTeXt!!! /s
I mean it is though. I don’t see how a list of quotes with no sources is helpful.
Especially.since they’re apparently paraphrases.
Could be a much more useful list
But I thought that “cancel culture” was anathema to the GOP and MAGA?
Is this something I’m too Canadian to understand?
The three letter news channels are not to be trusted anymore.
🌎 👨🚀 🔫 👩🚀
I’d argue you could’ve trusted them MORE before the Fairness Doctrine was murdered. Certainly still needed to apply skepticism and discernment though
I’d argue you could’ve trusted them MORE before the Fairness Doctrine was murdered
Red Scare politics would suggest they’ve always been untrustworthy. “Fairness” Doctrine only ever included two liberalized perspectives. Meet The Press wasn’t bringing on Michael Parenti and Murray Bookchin to debate David Duke and Ayn Rand.
This is why the fediverse matters. Kimmel or Colbert, right now they can turn to platforms like YT and will still be able to get the voice out.
But guess what. The same corporatism that control ABC control google. You live on their platforms your message is dependent on their approval.
The future is free; the future is federated.
As an immediate illustration to your point apparently Reddit politics has apparently been removing this story left and right.
Out of curiosity, I went and checked the front page of r/all. Of the current top 25 posts, these are the ones which pertain to the Kimmel situation followed by their respective subreddit:
/1. news /2. askreddit /3. cringetiktoks /7. technology /9. nofilternews /10. politics /13. fauxmoi /14. facepalm /18. whitepeopletwitter /23. popculturechat
The post on r/politics pertains to before the show was pulled, but it was posted after it was officially pulled. Some subreddits do delete repeat posts that are about the same story to keep the discussion all in one thread, so maybe that has happened with that subreddit?
[Edit: added slashes to prevent auto-formatting from changing the numbers]
I’ll try to find the one I navigated to but they kept getting closed for being “off topic”.
Also I’d argue the FCC making a threat and ABC actually pulling the guy are 2 separate stories.
I don’t think it’s some Reddit wide cabal as much as R/Politics sucking
Spez got invited to talk to Congress about radicalism on social media. I bet that has something to do with it. Steve “Bugeyes” Huffman will not turn down an opportunity to help Trump out.

If the fediverse was a threat then it would also be a target.
Antiwork Mod Situation 2: Electric Boogaloo
They can’t monetize on PeerTube, so they won’t
How we monetize might need to change. Maybe less ads, more donations? Budgets will have to go down, but that’s not so bad if the leash finally comes off.
EDIT: I misread your comment. Forget I said anything. Carry on.
Hear hear!
Canceled my D+ and Hulu subscriptions and wrote in other:
“Capitulating to Trump’s version of fascist America and knee jerk reaction to Kimmel made me rethink why I should give you my money. I don’t even like or watch Kimmel, but you are allowing free speech to be violated. I don’t support free speech abolitionists.“
We need to start poisoning Disney brands.
Never thought I’d see the day the Mouse wore a swastika.
Are you kidding? Walt Disney was a virulent anti-semite.
Not only do I agree, but I will comment to show visible support. This isn’t about Charlie it’s free speech.
I cancelled mine too. Clicked other but don’t remember seeing a place to comment. Missed opportunity. Well done you, though.
Nice! Good on you! Don’t worry about not saying why, if everyone is canceling today then they probably know why. Hulu didn’t have a spot to leave a why but Disney did. 🤷♂️
Even this framing is dishonest - he didn’t make comments about Charlie Kirk, he was mocking MAGA for rushing to weaponize his death. ABC shut down his show for a valid criticism of MAGA.
Yeah, it’s not looking good for them. Everyone is siding with trump in fear of being targeted.
Fascism, folks. Time to resist
But… Someone tried actually resisting and now we’re all hand wringing over it…
That’s why we all need to do it. NOW
We just found out when someone does something that all the top supposedly leftist commentators immediately capitulate and actually cry about it like a bunch of bitch-baby neoliberals
So, don’t be a commentator

They’re just getting started. Colbert was fired as a demand to allow the sale of CBS’ to Larry Ellison, 2nd richest man, and a vicious MAGA. With Colbert out, the decks were cleared for the sale.
CBS used to have the reputation of being the gold standard of broadcast news. Now it’s just going to be one more mouthpiece in the Conservative Propaganda Machine.
Phew! Thank GOD We’re ONLY keeping True Americans on the Air like people who ADVOCATE FOR MURDERING POOR PEOPLE and NOT People who Quote Dead People!
There was just a mass shooting at a homeless camp
Okay, I bet Charlie will be off the air for longer though.
Elon musk, noted free speech absolutist, falls to his knees
“Why can’t we put all the people that disagree with our speech in jail? Why?!”
Free speech absolutist means they want to be able to say the horrible things they believe out loud so they can encourage others to act on those beliefs. At the same time, they believe its their “right” to continue to hold everyone in their life hostage and force them to tolerate their lies and hate speech.
The Republic has fallen. The fascists have won.
Dear USA, fight for your rights. What’s happening now reminds me of what happened to Baseem Youssef in Egypt: https://www.bbc.com/news/world-middle-east-27671642
No one wants to give up their comforts. We’re all just sitting here letting this happen. No one wants to get violent or have a general strike or stop paying taxes or camp out in front of the white house or stop buying shit… We’re afraid of losing things that are going to be taken away in the future anyway.
It’s getting close.
No it isn’t. People are to comfortable and lazy.
